Trump Caught Spying on Greenland
There's always espionage going on, but with the way things are now...
Trump really doesn’t understand international diplomacy.
All of those people who voted for him because he was supposedly ‘anti-war’ really need to look us in the eye and explain exactly how his threats to take over Greenland — which is a threat of war in the eyes of Denmark — and annex Canada fit in with that.
Some people think it’s all talk and nothing to stress over. I have to tell you, as a Canadian, I call bullshit. When the elected representative of a massive country with a huge military and nuclear warheads starts talking shit, everybody needs to take it seriously.
That’s like walking into a room full of people with a fucking minigun and telling them you’re going to start shooting. You can’t do that and wonder why everybody is ducking for cover and drawing their own guns.
Besides; even if it is all talk, you have to explain to me why that makes it any better.
You can’t fucking joke around like that when you’re dealing with world governments.
But, at this point it doesn’t matter because Trump is clearly not joking. Especially not about Greenland — there is a clear pattern of escalation that makes it painfully clear that he is serious, and that his administration is putting a plan in motion.
It began back in January, before Trump was even inaugurated. His son Don Jr. visited Greenland with a pack of far-right sycophants and staged a little rally at a local hotel. They gathered with people in MAGA hats, showing them Trump’s speeches and watching them cheer as if they would be happy to be taken over by the United States.
Later, it came out that the people in MAGA hats were local people paid to wear them and given a free lunch for attending the gathering. The owner of the hotel said he highly doubted any of them even knew who Don Jr. is, let alone who his father is.
It was a propaganda stunt in miniature, designed to make it look as though the people of Greenland were open to the idea of becoming part of the United States. It set the stage for Trump’s rhetoric in the future.
And that was just the beginning. Trump was already blathering on about it via the media before this all went down, but with the justification provided by his son’s little gaffe, he ramped it up.
And then his administration got involved.
In March, Vice President JD Vance visited Greenland, preceeded by his staffers knocking on doors and asking local Greenlanders if they wanted to talk to the Americans — and having those doors slammed in their faces.
Likewise, businesses refused to host their press conferences or even to serve them while they were on the island. Nobody likes being threatened.
In his speech at an American military base on Greenland, Vance made disturbing comments about how the U.S. ‘must’ own Greenland for national security. He said that Denmark doesn’t protect Greenland very well, but the United States would.
It’s unclear who they plan to protect them from, seeing as how the U.S. is the only country publicly making threats.
Throughout all of this, Denmark — the country that Greenland is currently occupied by — has been coiling like a viper ready to strike. They quite rightly view it all as a hostile action against them.
Meanwhile, the people of Greenland have made it clear they have no interest in the U.S. and if there’s going to be a change, they’d rather have full independence.
After Vance’s visit, the military base chief was fired. Why? She had stated in an email that JD’s comments do not reflect the beliefs of personnel at the base.
This was taken as ‘undermining’ the Vice President and she had to be replaced by someone who would support the administration’s statements.
Trump’s rhetoric has continued. He has not let up. He has publicly refused to rule out using the military to take over Greenland by force, which is a direct threat to bring the U.S. military to bear against Denmark — which, by the way, is a NATO ally. It’s a founding member of the NATO alliance.
Now, Denmark’s foreign minister was adorable when he protested this, saying ‘we don’t spy on friends!’, which is not remotely true of any nation. And yet, against the backdrop of Trump’s threats and the specific directive to identify people among the independence movement who might support America’s actions, you can see why they’re demanding answers.
Denmark and Greenland are right to be preparing for these threats to become real. They are right to expect violence on the horizon.
And, by the way, this makes us Canadians even more anxious. If America takes Greenland, we will be boxed in by hostile American forces on all sides. The U.S. would have to go through us to stage an attack on Greenland, and that puts us in a terrible position.
I hope that the international community will stand with us, and with Greenland, should Trump’s dictatorial and colonial ambitions win out.
Solidarity wins.
I expect an attempt at forced annexation of Canada by the US to be more brutal and less certain in outcome than most Americans anticipate. Though Greenland would be in an even rougher position without prior allied support.

As for Trump's motives, one would do well to see what tech bro neo-reactionaries and Russian mouthpieces have to say.

I want to say that if the Trump regime decided to go after Canada in a military action, I would happily join any US based pro-Canada resistance army and make them fight on two fronts.
