I expect an attempt at forced annexation of Canada by the US to be more brutal and less certain in outcome than most Americans anticipate. Though Greenland would be in an even rougher position without prior allied support.
Oh, yeah. Invading Canada would be a huge mistake.
For one thing, we are not nearly as vulnerable and weak as we might seem to American eyes; our soldiers are known for being incredibly well trained and disciplined, and our people are primed for insurgency.
We have rough terrain, nasty winters, and lots of open wilderness that most of us are very familiar with.
The U.S. would beat us in a straight fight, but we would make them bleed for it every step of the way. And on top of that, their own people would revolt if they tried, so they'd have a civil war on top of a hot one over our borders.
And that's assuming our international allies wouldn't back us up. I'm sure many of them would.
It'd destroy the United States. I still wouldn't be surprised if Trump were stupid enough to try it.
I want to say that if the Trump regime decided to go after Canada in a military action, I would happily join any US based pro-Canada resistance army and make them fight on two fronts.
I know of quite a few people who will side with the Canadians, much like the difference between the Tories and the colonials during the American revolution. It's not that we would be considered Tories but more like Canadian Americans. With my ties to Canada, some distant family and many friends, I would side against the American government if they decided to invade Canada and Greenland. I have no love for the current U.S. government anyway. I haven't since I was 18 years old. If I had to return to Aroostook County, Maine in order to try and stop the Americans from crossing the border, so be it.

As for Trump's motives, one would do well to see what tech bro neo-reactionaries and Russian mouthpieces have to say.

Just when I think the insanity can't get any worse it does.

The British public - less those moronic traitors in the Reform Party - will always be on Canada’s side. Always.
And we're grateful for that support!
