Over here in NZ we had 'soldiering on' as our mustn't let the team down mantra. No matter how ill you feel you should drag yourself into work and do your bit. This was especially pervasive in the health sector before the pandemic where some members of the team I belonged to would drag themselves into the clinic looking in worse shape than the patients. More than once during the 'flu season I found myself appealing to our clinical manager to tell a coworker to go home and stay there until they were in some kind of fit condition to do their job without infecting the rest of us.

Take care. I related to this very much. "Does anyone else deal with this? The constant need to feel productive and the weird sense of guilt that comes with relaxing at home?" When I take a sick day I feel guilty, and I won't allow myself to go out until the end of my shift. Only exception is if I feel bad enough to go to Urgent Care. Since it is almost impossible to get into my primary care doctor on the same day. Aw, the American health system.
