Stopping by For a Coffee

Let's sit and chat a while.
Stopping by For a Coffee

Reaching Out to The Wide, Wide World

I’ve often been described as an opinionated person. I guess that’s a polite way of calling me a bit of a pain in the back end, but I don’t feel nettled by the description. I have strong convictions, and I think that’s an admirable trait in others. Why not myself?

Getting up the courage to share those convictions with the world has taken time. My first public posts filled me with anxiety, and I started with fiction- something I felt was safer and less likely to result in backlash.

But over time, I found myself growing comfortable with hitting the ‘publish’ button. And with that comfort, I gained confidence in going beyond made-up stories. I found my voice was louder and reached more ears by putting out my thoughts and opinions.

It turns out that when people get to know you, they want you to talk to them. They don’t want you to sit silently in the corner and keep your thoughts to yourself. So, with that in mind, I’ve finally decided to branch out and expand my platform a little bit.

To test the waters, as it were.

Like-Minded Friends

There’s no fun to be had in speaking your mind if nobody is interested in hearing you out. I don’t exactly have an adoring crowd gathered about my feet, hands upheld eagerly for news of what’s going on in the world-of-Sam, and I doubt I ever will.

That said, we humans have an instinctual need for community. Discussion, debate, commiserating, whatever form of communication we can find, we want it. And we want it with people we connect with.

I have seen a beautiful community built around the idea of making the world a better place for all. Fighting for justice and sharing compassion and empathy with outstretched hands. I’d like to do my part to spread this ideal even further.

What Am I Doing?

All that said, I think I can make a second home here. Carve out a place for myself, preferably with comfy slippers and a hot cup of coffee. We all need creature comforts.

I don’t know what days I’m going to be posting here, but knowing me, I’ll probably be posting at least a couple of times a week. I love getting my hands on the keyboard, especially when a rant is brewing in the back of my mind.

So, put up your feet, grab a cozy blanket and a hot drink, and let’s find some things to vent about. I know I’ve got plenty.
