Take it from someone who attended many, many training lectures on nuclear warfare during the cold war era. There is no safe place anywhere on the planet. Eventually, given the radiation given off from the modern nuclear bombs, the clouds will eventually reach everywhere. Read William Brinkley's famous novel, The Last Ship.
As we know after last night, Trump Taco's once again. There are various reasons being bandied about in the new s media but we do had a reprieve for a few hours. Now I hear this afternoon, that Iran shut down the straight again because of Israel bombing Lebanon today. They will be the ones to spoil the ceasefire, just you wait. This ain't over by a long shot.
In my small part of the world we have a sizeable tropical cyclone bearing down on us, - so you might forgive me for not paying much attention to what the emperor of the mad is doing. I remember when he was president the first time around he was wanting to obliterate the Middle East with nuclear weapons, but at least he had a few wise heads holding him back then. Now though all bets are off.
Thanks for your message Sam. The Cyclone has now headed out to sea and good riddance to it. The small town where I live gets shelter from storms from the nearby Coromandel Ranges so while we didn’t get the extreme winds battering at us we still got the heavy rain. Other towns that were more exposed lost power and suffered more damage, so I guess we can count ourselves lucky.
We did all the right things with packing Go-bags and filling the bath with water before the cyclone made landfall, but with my daughter being wheelchair dependent and me not exactly the greatest with my own disabilities evacuating was the last thing we wanted to do. As it happened we were Ok, but the constant sound of the wind and the rain for 36 hours was an unwanted stress. We’re both tired, - exhausted really, - but nothing a good few hours sleep won’t fix.

Hey Anne! It’s been a few days. I hope you guys are still doing okay — I see Cyclone Vaianu is still in play on the island. It looks nasty!
Stay safe!
