Trump Tried to Tell the President of South Africa About 'White Genocide'
I'm sure the anti-apartheid activist who was arrested several times was receptive to his bullshit arguments.
Let me tell you about a man named Cyril Ramaphosa.
He is a statesman, a businessman, and a savvy speaker with a quick wit and a steady demeanour. He is known for being intellectual, cautious and well-spoken, and not easily cowed by bullshit and intimidation tactics.
He is sometimes slammed as not being bold enough in his actions, but he maintains that he would rather bring unity than division. He has some controversies under his belt, but he also has a strong reputation as an activist against oppression.
Born in South Africa under the weight of Apartheid, Ramaphosa has been an outspoken proponent for greater equity in his home country — an issue that is still very much under dispute, as poverty and employment is still heavily split along racial demographics.
White Afrikaners are, on the whole, far better off than Black South African citizens.
Ramaphosa is most well-known for his history of frequent arrests while protesting against segregation throughout his lifetime, and he was described as a thorn in the side of mine owners as a trade union boss back in the day.
Today, he serves as South Africa’s President.
Imagine this man, fighting for equity and an end to racism and oppression, a Black President in a country riven by strife in the wake of Apartheid, having to sit in a room and be lectured about the suffering of wealthy white men.
Specifically, imagine him having to sit there and listen to Donald Trump try to convince him that there is a ‘White Genocide’ happening in the country he leads.
Well, we don’t have to imagine something so deranged, because it just happened.
If your head hurts, welcome to the club.
Trump made news with his abject stupidity — again, as he does constantly — by inviting white Afrikaners into the country as ‘refugees’, even as his administration excludes refugees from just about everywhere else.
He’s throwing innocent, kidnapped Venezuelan people into concentration camps in El Salvador on the mere accusation of being criminals, but apparently these Afrikaners will ‘assimilate easily into the country.’ Three guesses as to why that might be the case.
To be clear, I have no issue with immigration at all. My issue is the obvious double-standard. The same double-standard that made Black Lives Matter activists into violent mobs, justifying assault and brutality by police, and turned the January 6 rioters into heroes who were barely chastened after attempting a coup at the U.S. Capitol.
When you welcome white Afrikaners into the country as ‘refugees’ from a made-up genocide, and throw non-white legal residents out of the country as ‘criminals’, it’s obvious what the real goal is.
And yes; the genocide is bullshit. It isn’t happening, it’s not real, and it’s disgusting that the South African President had to sit in the Oval Office and be fed bullshit conspiracy theories by the U.S. President.
Trump had the lights dimmed, and made President Ramaphosa sit through a ‘documentary’ showing badly cut-together clips of cars carrying crosses — which he claimed to be a memorial procession for the victims of said ‘white genocide’, though he couldn’t name the place where this supposedly happened — and fringe political figures ranting on screen.
I should also mention that Elon Musk was present at this meeting. Musk, whose family built their wealth through owning gem mines in South Africa during Apartheid, and is known for spreading Holocaust denial, performing Nazi salutes and generally being a racist dickwad.
To his immense credit, Ramaphosa kept his cool, barring a few shots about not being able to give Trump a plane, and gesturing at the famous golfer and billionaire he brought with him as Trump’s ‘good friends.’
Trump, being his usual blustery self, did not recognize the jabs.
All in all, after that travesty of a meeting I’m reeling with second-hand embarassment. This is what the United States has come to represent; racism and stupidity, and conspiracy theories quelling facts like wheat before a scythe.
What a nightmare. What an absolute, unmitigated disaster.
Solidarity wins.
So much damn stupidity it is simply unbelievable, but unfortunately it's true..
Yep. The U.S. has become the laughingstock of the world.
