How Many Babies Need to Die Before Cops Lose Their Guns?
I'm not kidding. They don't fucking deserve them
Law enforcement should not be allowed to carry deadly weapons.
Yeah, I said it. I don’t think anyone can argue that they’re capable of using them responsibly at this point, particularly after the latest sweep of headlines involving the death of a one year old baby over an accusation that his mom shoplifted fucking diapers.
Diapers. They murdered a baby over a pack of fucking diapers.
And yes, I’m calling it murder; they fired repeatedly at a car that they knew damn well had an infant in the back seat. They shot a baby. They killed a baby. At the very least it’s Depraved Heart, if you ask me, but I’ll bet money nothing happens to the guy who pulled the trigger.
Time and time again, we have seen the results of giving a man a sense of authority, a badge, and so-called ‘Warrior Training.’ You build up that man’s idea that he’s the only thing standing between good people and ‘criminals,’ and you feed his ego, and then you put a gun in his hands.
And shock and surprise, innocent people wind up dead. And I don’t care if you think some of them are criminals. Innocent until proven guilty is the fucking law.
Even the cops who haven’t personally murdered someone, most of them shut up and look the other way when it happens because the consequences of speaking up are dire.
You get labeled a rat or a snitch, your ‘comrades’ will tear you apart like piranhas in the summer drought.
We see it over and over again. Irresponsible, reckless use of deadly weapons that they have no business handling. The guy who drew his gun and fired wildly after hearing an acorn hit the roof of his car and somehow thought he was in a shootout.
The cops who broke into the wrong apartment in the middle of the night and murdered Breonna Taylor in her bed, then arrested her boyfriend for ‘assaulting’ them when he tried to defend his partner from what he correctly assumed were intruders.
The cop who murdered Philando Castile after he reached for his gun owner’s license — at the cop’s request — and who was shot in the side while his girlfriend and her toddler screamed for help. It’s pure luck that idiot cop didn’t shoot one of them, too.
I will never forget seeing footage of that tiny little girl in the back of the cop car with her mom, trying to make her mommy feel better while she sobbed in handcuffs.
Their crime was witnessing a cop killing him.
Do I need to go on? Do I need to keep listing? Do I need to mention ICE and all of the atrocities they get up to?
Cops don’t deserve weapons. They have proven over and over again that they have no right to them.
By the way, everything I just listed was in the U.S. but I’m not just talking about American cops. Don’t get me started on cops in other countries. It may not always involve shootings, but intentional murder is hardly out of the question, especially when minorities are involved.
Canadian cops don’t want me out here talking about Starlight Tours.
I’ve written about the culture of policing so many damn times. I could link five or six articles here for you and they all cover different topics, but they all come down to the same damn thing.
The culture of policing is toxic, and dangerous, and law enforcement needs to be completely dismantled. It’s not a few ‘bad apples.’ Even if it were, the saying goes that a few bad apples spoil the bunch.
I refer again to the cover ups and de facto immunity that killer cops — even rapist cops — get to enjoy.
I talk about this and then I always get some random jackass in the comments talking about how I’d have a different view if I had a cop in my family. Let me get ahead of that asshole.
I do have cops in my family. I grew up with cop friends of my relatives. I love my uncle, who was a cop through my entire childhood.
If I found out he murdered somebody, I’d want him treated more harshly than the average citizen, not less. He’s been given authority, the expectation of obediance from the people, and a deadly weapon.
He has the responsibility to use all of that properly and not abuse it.
If he crossed that line, then I would only be satisfied if he went to prison for life. You don’t get to oppress and commit injustices when your entire job is to ensure justice is done.
Throw away the key. Take away the gun. Take away the authority.
No more babies should be killed by bastard cops.
Solidarity wins.
